The Dalai Lama even visited Albany to commend Raniere’s ethical work in May of 2009 (after an initial cancelation of the visit due to concerns surrounding the group). Unbeknownst to most of the women, the head of the secret group was Raniere himself, and some of the women were required to take nude photographs and have sex with Raniere.
